At 14:30, on June 22, “South and North Schools of Chinese Landscape Painting/ Nanbeizong - Reviewing Dong Qichang” Chinese Painting Exhibition of an Academic Research Project was inaugurated at Beijing Yan Huang Art Museum. The exhibition is jointly hosted by the Hebei Education Publishing Group, Yan Huang Art Museum and CAFA, organized by Beijing SongYa Feng Culture Media, in cooperation with “Essays on Ink and Wash”, trying to probe “South and North Schools of Chinese Landscape Painting/ Nanbeizong” to be an important artistic theory in the history of Chinese art.
In the opening ceremony, Prof. Chen Chuanxi, academic advisor and curator of the exhibition, Liu Xiaochun, academic director, Cui Zhenkuan, a representative of the artists, and Mei Mosheng, artist and theorist respectively gave a speech. Honored guests included Zhang Chenguang, vice manager of Hebei Education Publishing Group, Ms. Liu Zheng, General Manager of Beijing SongYa Feng Culture Media, Li Gaofeng, Dean of Shandong Taishan Cultural Art Exchange, Liu Xiaochun, famous critic, Ms Liang Jie, Guangdong Museum of Art, and some artists. After the opening ceremony, Chen Chuanxi, the academic adviser, presided over a related discussion on “South and North Schools of Chinese Landscape Painting/ Nanbeizong”.
“Ten Lectures on the Chinese Culture of Landscapes” was held in CAFA, by the organizer at the beginning of April, warming up the exhibition. A total of nearly forty artists were invited to the exhibition, both from the creative style and geographical representation, encompassing the mainstream appearance of contemporary Chinese landscape painting, including representatives of various styles, such as Long Rui, Cui Zhenkuan, Lu Yuxun, Fan Yang, Xu Qinsong, Mei Mosheng, Cheng Dali, Jiang Baolin, He Jialin, Lin Haizhong, etc., in addition, featuring the major representatives of twentieth-century landscape painters, such as Zhang Daqian, Huang Binhong, Fu Baoshi, Huang Qiuyuan, Qian Songyan, Fang Zhaoling, etc., to discuss the “South and North Schools of Chinese Landscape Painting/ Nanbeizong” again, meanwhile to clarify the changes of Chinese landscape painting in the 20th century.
The exhibition remains until July 6.
