Miguel de Cervantes Library - Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Spain in Shanghai hosts the archive of the project Sabores Gemelos / Lenguas Gemelas (Twin Flavours / Twin Tongues) by Antoni Miralda (Terrassa, 1942), that talks about the relationship between Barcelona and Shanghai, twin cities since 2001. Beyond political agreements, a specular process has been effectively produced between the two cities. This was the starting point of the proposal that Screen Projects produced for the Barcelona Pavilion of the Shanghai Biennale. A visual exploration of the imaginary, traditions, rituals, political and organizational forms through food. Taking the tongue as a conductor (the most public and private organ, that traditional Chinese medicine understands as the body internal reflection and, therefore, as a decisive instrument of diagnosis), the project set off to reveal a cartography of flavours and knowledge of the encounter between the two cities and thus further explore the global circulation currents operating between them.
Sabores Gemelos / Lenguas Gemelas deploys research processes, production strategies and stories that led to the installation of the Pavilion. More than a reproduction, the purpose here is to generate a query space of the materials and processes related to Sabores Gemelos / Lenguas Gemelas, a living archive that allows new entry points and the re-formulation of a project by definition in constant mutation. The display at Miguel de Cervantes Library includes video, photographs and various documents and objects.
