IMS of Modern Artland unveiled “Huang Keyi: Inner Landscapes” at Sanlitun in Beijing. The exhibition is divided into two series, “Mountains” and “Fruits”, which display the artist’s latest paintings that he created between 2023 and 2024, supplemented by sculptures, videos and 3D printing installations. Huang intends to explore the mutual generation between individual experience and the natural world, and the infinite possibilities of ontological reconstruction after the body escapes from the external production mechanism in his work. The exhibition remains on view till October 19.

“The artist has devoted himself to the printmaking research for a long time, and he has returned to the easel creation which shows his solid printmaking skills. This exhibition can be regarded as his return to the inner self, and it is also his gaze and imagination of the ‘inner landscapes,’” states Li Hanning, curator of this exhibition, “The works on display showcase Huang Keyi’s continuous focus on digital imaging and biotechnology as he abandons the rigorous physiological anatomy and the representational expression of landscape painting, allowing the body to move and the color blocks to freely collide with each other.”
Exhibition View
The exhibition revolves around two series of easel paintings: “Mountains”and “Fruits”. The former contains everything constructed “inside”, leading the audience to immerse in the original survival experience; the latter directly confronts the “body” id, and the seemingly familiar yet contradictorily unfamiliar cells evoke a purer self-cognition in the viewers. ”
